Understanding the significance of quality criterion in educational game : A comparative review

Educational games (EGs) are an effective medium of educating in the 21st century. Many researchers discuss the importance of content delivery through the EG for learners and how the quality of learning outcome can be improved. In addition, recent studies have highlighted quality characteristics or quality factors that can allow EG to provide quality learning process and achieve a productive result. Although, researchers emphasized on the importance of achieving quality learning outcome, ignorance on development and designing EG quality is still at its infant level due to various gaps mentioned above. Therefore, this study systematically obtain literature review and provide an intensive comparison on recent studies to understand the crucial gaps existing on improving the quality of EG. The review is focused on game design and game quality of EGs. Lastly, this paper provides various future directions for researchers, game designers, game developers and academician; to ensure quality EG is presented.
