Tracking federalism, power-sharing and constitutional change in Nepal, Myanmar and Sri Lanka

dataset
posted on 2017-07-28, 00:00 authored by Carlos E Bonalumi
This dataset supports historical comparative analysis of institutions for the accommodation, integration and assimilation of ethnic diversity in Nepal, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. It incorporates formal institutions, like constitutions and electoral systems, as well as their practice, and is based on a scoring system detailed under the concept of an Asian federal system. The dataset also incorporates interacting and exogenous variables, namely economic reforms, regime changes, international intervention and other contingent events, democratization and conflict. Different institutional configurations can be related to these variables and success factors to assist in the identification of suitable institutions for the management of ethnic diversity.
