Greenicity: a creative sustainable design game

History

Research statement

Background Greenicity is a participatory creative game developed to support brainstorming sessions on how to make existing cities greener. Using gamification unlocks people's creative thinking, allowing them to enjoy collaboration. This game was designed specifically for architects and urban designers to articulate ideas with a community. Contribution The game contributes to new forms of public engagement using creative tools. It allows small groups to co-design in participatory sessions and, therefore, helps to understand how community voices can be integrated into a design. Significance The research was published in the International Conference on Open and Innovative Education and 1st Teaching and Learning Symposium University of Nottingham Ningbo China. The research was funded by the Faculty of Science and Engineering from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
