Notes

The Sensory Portals are a new component of the GAD Festival. They will be used for GAD and also for other Geelong Events.

Research statement

The Sensory Portals explore 'reframing' of architecture for public viewing; and how architecture 'frames' cultural and art. Architectural design led research and siting composition of the Sensory Portals. This original work was undertaken by Mirjana Lozanovska (lead author, concept, design and siting) with Stewart Seaton (architectural drawings a + b). This project is also under the umbrella project of Vacant Geelong. All three portals – Camera Obscura, Wings and Flaps - will form the architectural space that three art teams animate: Sensory Portal 1, Sensory Portal 2 and Sensory Portal 3 are located on Gheringhap Street/Johnston Park on the Terrace of the City Hall.
