Research statement
Background
This submission puts qualitative empirical research before the High Court of Australia.
Contribution
Our research was unique in that it addressed the issues that fell for determination by the High Court of Australia.
Significance
Our submissions informed the High Court's judgment. We were granted leave to appear as amicus curiae (rare for academic submissions) and our submissions were cited in the judgment of the High Court and a subsequent judgment of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
