Late Godard 'Goodbye to Language': Digital + 3D Cinema
A media arts research symposium on the formal and aesthetic impacts of filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard’s recent digital and 3D works, including Film Socialisme (2010) and
Adieu au Langage (Goodbye to Language, 2014). The event is hosted by Dr Alex Munt (UTS) along with film writer Dr Sarinah Masukor and ABC Radio National’s Jason Di Rosso at the School of Communication in the Faculty Arts and Social Sciences at UTS.
The symposium’s keynote paper will be presented by Dr Miriam Ross (Victoria University of Wellington) and will explore aspects of experimental 3D filmmaking. Dr Sarinah Masukor and Dr Alex Munt will present current research on film criticism and the screenplay. Jason Di Rosso will host a panel for Radio National with special guests: Professor Julian Murphet (Centre for Modernism Studies, UNSW); experimental filmmaker Dr Dirk De Bruyn (Deakin University) and artist Alex Gawronski.
The symposium will screen excerpts and work from Jean-Luc Godard and recent collaborator Fabrice Aragno (cinematographer and co-director).
