Research statement
Pound’s works in this field are held by the National Gallery, Canberra; the NGV, and MuMA. The research was exhibited and published by Monash University Museum of Art in the book: ‘Photographer Unknown’ (2009). This practice-led research led to traditional research and a commissioned paper delivered at the MCA, Sydney as the closing address of ‘The End of Photography’, UTS. The research led to a commissioned paper at ‘Art and Mortality’ symposium, ANU, 2014, (Commissioned by Professor Helen Ennis, Centre for Art History and Theory, and pre-eminent scholar in the field). In a review of an exhibition at the leading Australian photography gallery, Stills, Dr. Andrew Frost declares Pound: “one of Australia’s leading exponents in this type of work”. Pound published articles on the field in Flash, CCP online journal, 2012, ‘Show and Tell’ (Illustrated) and Try Hard Magazine, online journal UTS, 2013, ‘Reading Snaps – recollections of photography’ (illustrated). Leading Australian photography theorist Dr Daniel Palmer examines Pound’s research in ‘The Mis-take in Photography: Patrick Pound, Jackson Eaton and the Paradoxical Self Image’, DISSECT, 2014.
