Research statement

Background This exhibition documents the works produced by Deakin’s Architecture and Construction Management students in 2024. ‘Process’ narrates how the projects are generated by exploring the development of each project through students’ sketches, photographs, models and other forms of design approaches. We present designs that align with the school vision of nurturing innovative and transformative visions through critical methods. Contribution ‘Process’ showcases the creative steps and final works produced by Deakin University's Architecture and Construction Management students in 2024. ‘Process’ explores the critical perspectives and methods employed by students to create architectures. This exhibition narrates the evolution of each project by highlighting the diverse stages of development. Visitors will find multiple design explorations, including sketches, photographs, physical models, digital models, videos and various other design approaches. These elements collectively illustrate the progression from conceptual ideas to tangible outcomes. Significance ‘Process’ increases public awareness of the value and impact of design by showcasing the steps and methodologies behind architectural projects. Visitors gain insights into how design and creativity influence various aspects of our lives, from concept to creation. The exhibition highlights the critical perspectives of Deakin’s national and international students, providing a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas.
