Deakin’s School of Engineering has played an integral role in building on Geelong’s proud reputation for industrial design ingenuity for 30 years. As an incubator for intelligent design and design intelligence, Deakin Engineering continues to inspire makers and visionaries who thrive on challenging the norm as we transition to Industry 4.0 and beyond. ‘Solved: Engineered by Design’ exhibits the selected work of engineering students and researchers, and establishes that innovation and creativity belong to everyone; intelligent design solves complex challenges and creates impact that benefits the communities we serve and live in.
This event celebrates the skills and talents of Deakin engineering students and researchers, showcasing engineering design and interdisciplinary projects that demonstrate how we solve real-world problems for our community and society. Through a human-centred lens, we invite visitors to explore engineering projects designed for the transport, sports, health, space and cultural heritage industries, and to learn how mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, civil and environmental engineering students and researchers deliver solutions with humans in mind. The works are communicated through advanced fabrication artefacts, immersive virtual reality experiences, visualisations, videos and prints. This is a public exhibition at the Centre for Advanced Design in Engineering Training (CADET) at the Deakin University Waurn Ponds campus.Publication classification
