The casket is sterling silver with a marble base and blue velvet lining. Inscription: PRESENTED BY THE CORPORATION OF EDINBURGH / along with the Burgess Ticket / CONFERRING THE FREEDOM OF THE CITY / On the Honourable Alfred Deakin / Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia / 10th May 1907 / THE RIGHT HONOURABLE JAMES PUCKERING GIBSON, LORD PROVOST. Title supplied by cataloguer. Object image forms part of: Alfred Deakin Prime Ministerial Library collection. The casket is owned by the Melbourne C. of E. Grammar School. Digitized images.
