The artwork Enfold, is part of a new lens based series which explores the apprehensions of post-colonial arts practitioners a decade and a half into the 21st century. The artist operates within a system loaded with the relationships and tensions of place-makers in contemporary Australasia. This work considers a familiar place at an island location from the perspective of a first time tourist. The sacred site providing a rich sense of belonging between land, mountain and sky and this is what I try to capture in this work. The combination of the overexposed sky and the placement of snow on the peak rising to above provide a serene calm scene, made to lull the audiences’ into peace and quietude.Usage metrics
