Background
Untitled 6 is a painting inspired by Geelong’s Waterfront, a place where city and nature converge. This work explores layered history and distinctive character of the site, presenting abstractions of its shapes and architectural elements. This work is a reflection my ongoing exploration of the interplay between architecture, voids, and the ways perception shapes our understanding of space.
Contribution
My artistic process is intuitive, beginning with recollections of memories and observations. Drawing from these impressions, the work evolves through the addition and removal of pigment on the canvas. The act of scraping away and reapplying paint suggests the passage of time, uncovering layers of memories while simultaneously reimagining them. This meticulous process often takes several days of reflection and memory-gathering.
Significance
This artwork reimagines how architecture forms can be represented and role of memory in the architect creative process.
