Blood bank control system: An ontology

The management of blood bank control system is a complex task that facilitates the procedures done in blood bank from blood collection to blood transfusion. The objective of this research is to provide an ontology that represents the blood bank control system domain to enable querying blood bank data from the blood inventory, blood banks and blood donors. Ontologised Blood Bank Control System (OBBCS) was developed by using protégé ontology development kit to facilitate the storage and the retrieval of blood banks data. The OBBCS consist of in 17 classes, 11 data properties, 12 object properties, 18 individuals and 4 rules. Set of hypothetical data was inserted; SPARQL Quires was run against the hypothetical data and resulted in true positive results.
