Circular error probables for moving targets: The dynamic error probable

A study was conducted to investigate the dynamic error probable (DEA) as an alternative to the use of circular error probable (CEA) for moving targets. Eleven regular Australian Army soldiers and Army Reserve personnel were used as experimental subjects. All experimental subjects were experienced shooters, with one being a marksman trainer, and several had experience with unguided antitank rocket launchers. All had normal or corrected to normal visual acuity and normal color vision under the same experimental lighting conditions of approximately 10 cd/m2 and measured by the OPTEC 2300. The simulation was performed on the Virtual Battlespace 3 simulation and the Freeman head-mounted display).
