This paradigm is being sucessfully used in a large number of fields. MAPFS is a multiagent parallel file system, which takes advantage of the semantic concept of agents in order to increase its modularity and performance. This paper shows how to use agent theory as conceptual framework in the design and development of MAPFS. MAPFS implementation is based on nearer technologies to system programming, although its design makes usage of the abstraction .of a multiagent system.
