Emotion: the 'e' in engagement in online distance education in social work

Many social work students struggle with pre-practicum skills units due to the required role play exercise. Online students may be seen to be challenged even further due to a perception that they can learn it on their own. A survey showed a number struggled to remain engaged and felt isolated. A constructivist pedagogy was trialled with various online technologies which brought positive results
