Enhancing strength and γ’-coarsening resistance through micro-alloying additions to an oxidation resistant Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni-Ti compositionally complex alloy
• Micro-alloyed Al-rich Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni-Ti HESA (HESA-3A) exhibited attractive blend of strength, resistance to coarsening, and resilience against oxidation
• HESA-3A exhibited high volume fraction of γ′-phase (>64%) and elevated γ′-dissolution temperature (>1180 °C)
• HESA-3A exhibited low coarsening rate of 2.8 * 10−28 m3/s at 800 °C.
• Al-rich HESAs displayed an activation energy of ~220 kJ/mol for oxidation.
