Evaluation of pilling instrumental characterizing for knitted fabrics

The pillgrade system of USA Line Tech Industries is evaluated. The pillgrade system and ICI pilling box are used for a range of knitted fabrics with different structures. The instrumental characterizing and grading of the pilled samples are compared with those obtained from conventional subjective pilling assessments. The results indicate that while the correlation is significant at the 0.01 level (2-tailed), the pillgrade system output is influenced by fabric structure.
