Information Technology has brought quantity surveying practices to a new platform. However, developing economies are still hesitant to adopt novel technologies. Thus, the purpose of this study was to identify the technologies utilized by quantity surveyors in different stages of construction projects and thereby assess the gap that exists between the quantity surveying practices of Sri Lanka and those in other countries, which will help quantity surveyors working in Sri Lanka to gain a competitive edge over those working in other countries. The study utilized a mixed research technique; the data required for the study were collected using semistructured interviews and a questionnaire survey. Descriptive statistics were utilized to analyze the collected data. The results of the analysis are presented using box and whisker plots. The use of word processing, spreadsheets, and computer-aided designs by quantity surveyors involved in construction projects has become popular worldwide. However, the use of information technology in quantity surveying is yet to gain popularity in Sri Lankan context.
