Helicopter-based digital electronic news gathering (H-DENG) systems play a crucial role for the live televised news broadcast, especially for disastrous or catastrophic events. In this paper, a special H-DENG system will be investigated thoroughly. Major aspects including resource allocation in spectrum, necessary services and mechanisms, wave propagation and channel modeling, as well as design rules have to be addressed for this system. Our studies are based on the actual prototype of the integrated H-DENG system. The evaluation and analysis of this system are also presented in this paper according to the measurement and simulation results from our test bed.
