The model evaluated In this paper represents (he first attempt al theoretically investigating the critical pin speed in combing, below which breakage of twisted fibres might be avoided. The theoretical model requires several assumptions about the geometry of the twisted fibres. Various empirical curves obtained in this paper by using nylon 6 filament to simulate the twisted fibres show general agreement with those predicted by the postulated model.
