© 2019 In this article, MoS 2 nanosheets were applied to modify SiO 2 nanoparticles to fabricate SiO 2 -MoS 2 core-shell nanoparticles as well-dispersed nanofillers, enhancing the anticorrosive and mechanical performance of oil-based epoxy matrix. The results showed that SiO 2 nanoparticles were covered by MoS 2 nanosheets. And interestingly, MoS 2 nanosheets could act as reinforcing agent of SiO 2 to improve the interfacial interaction between epoxy and SiO 2 nanoparticles, enhancing the anticorrosive and mechanical properties of the epoxy resin simultaneously. Herein, the SiO 2 -MoS 2 /epoxy containing 3 wt.% SiO 2 -MoS 2 exhibited the greatest anticorrosion performance. Besides, the tensile strength (σs) and Young's modulus (EY) of SiO 2 -MoS 2 /epoxy coatings (3 wt.%) were also remarkable in comparison with pure epoxy and other composites coatings, increased by 68.7% and 46.5%. We believe that the nanocomposite has a promising application in epoxy coatings.
