Nationalism, Modernism, and New Zealand
This article addresses the relationship between modernism and nationalism in modernist studies. Taking New Zealand literature as an example, it suggests that modernism might not be as 'cosmopolitan' as it is often taken to be. In particular, the article contrasts recent scholarship on modernism and the 1930s literary journal, 'Phoenix'.
