© 2019 The Electrochemical Society. Exploring efficient non-noble-metal electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is becoming an urgent task owning to the persistently aggravating energy crisis. Herein, small Ni nanoparticles embedded in ultrathin Mo2C interconnected nanonet on carbon nanofibers (CF) were prepared for the first time. The Ni/Mo2C nanonet on CF (Ni/Mo2C/CF) carbonized under 650°C exhibits ultra-high catalytic activity which only needs 92 mV to afford 10 A/g with remarkable durability for HER in alkaline electrolyte.
