posted on 2023-08-09, 01:45 authored by Patsie FrawleyPatsie Frawley, J David, A O’Shea, A Dew, M WellingtonThis paper provides a commentary on the way sexuality education programmes are developed and delivered for young people with intellectual disability. It draws on current research literature to discuss the challenges young people with intellectual disability face accessing comprehensive sexuality and relationship education equitable to their non-disabled peers. It highlights a gap in knowledge in this area and puts forward a position to inform the co-development of innovative approaches for more accessible comprehensive sexuality and relationship education by schools and health professionals.
