Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People have a sacred connection to our land and we have inhabited the Australian continent since the beginning of time, and this has been expressed in our Dreaming stories, songlines, dance and artworks. However, from a scientific perspective archaeologists and anthropologists estimated that Aboriginal People have inhabited the Australian continent for approx. 51,000 to 71,000 years [5] which began during the Pleistocene period. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have demonstrated great intelligence and knowledge of their environment, they are very athletic, and have been for millennia.
