The environmental health professional working in rural areas of Southeast Asia is likely to face a wide range of conditions not found in the west. The incidence of illness in these areas is often directly related to environmental factors. This study presents a 'snapshot' view of disease and environmental conditions in North Bengkulu, Indonesia, which may serve as a guide for environmental health professionals in finding effective and efficient solutions to health problems resulting from environmental conditions.
