The subaltern stays silenced: postcolonial perspectives on global cities

journal contribution
posted on 2016-11-01, 00:00 authored by Louise JohnsonLouise Johnson
Global cities research is a lively field. It may well benefit from an ‘engaged pluralism’, though such a call still suggests a tolerance of difference by those who remain in positions of power to admit or reject such a challenge and to shape its form as well as to judge its veracity. This response argues further that in this case the ‘straw man’ – or the postcolonial woman – has not been adequately registered, heard or adequately responded to.
