Global cities research is a lively field. It may well benefit from an ‘engaged pluralism’, though such a call still suggests a tolerance of difference by those who remain in positions of power to admit or reject such a challenge and to shape its form as well as to judge its veracity. This response argues further that in this case the ‘straw man’ – or the postcolonial woman – has not been adequately registered, heard or adequately responded to.
This research output may contain the names and images of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people now deceased. We apologise for any distress that may occur.
