To monitor the types of CLs and care systems prescribed in five countries, 1000 questionnaires were randomly distributed to practitioners in Australia (AU), Canada (CA), Netherlands (NL), Norway (NO) and the United Kingdom (UK). Each anonymous questionnaire requested background information and data about the first ten patients fitted after receipt. Most countries relied heavily on soft lenses, with the exception of NL. Daily disposable lenses are very popular in NO and UK. There is a significant proportion of silicone hydrogel extended wear prescribed in AU, and CA is predominantly a monthly replacement, daily wear market.
