In measuring airborne particles the value of the different techniques is becoming clear. The nephelometer measures respirable particles, relating to health; while the teleradiometer is better suited to measuring visual air quality, an aesthetic consideration. The study of the aesthetic side of air pollution is important and if visual air quality is to be modeled and the impact of present and future developments assessed, reliable measures and data will be needed.
