Research statement

Background This literature review summarises the latest evidence of the benefits of recreational gaming and e-sports for children and young people, in both formal contexts (such as school) and informal contexts. Contribution This literature review provides an overview of both quantitative and qualitative evidence of the benefits of recreational gaming and e-sports for young people and children. It brings together research from different disciplines into a coherent summary of the latest insights. Significance The report is produced by the CRIS (Centre for Resilient and Inclusive Societies). CRIS is a Melbourne-based think tank consortium of academic, community and industry partners, which delivers research and informs policies that advance and enrich our local, national, and international community cohesion and resilience.
