Research statement

Background The Graduate Teacher Professional Learning Program was a research initiative of Beyond the Bell, a community organisation that seeks to alleviate relative disadvantage that is disproportionately experienced by children and young people living in the Great South Coast region of Victoria. The aim of the research was to answer - How can we best support graduate teachers in the south-west region of Victoria? Contribution The Graduate Teacher Professional Learning Program offered a series of professional learning sessions in which graduate teachers working in the south-west region of Victoria could explore their professional identity, professional wellbeing and professional practice and develop communities of practice in their professional networks. Significance The Graduate Teacher Professional Learning Program is unique as, rather than the one-size-fits-all approach of most professional learning programs, it has been developed based on input from graduate teachers as to their current professional needs.
