Background This report provides a rapid review to identify effective tobacco tax and price policies and procedures for low- and middle-income nations to reduce tobacco use. Contribution Recommendations are provided to assist governments in low- and middle-income nations to implement effective policies. Significance Tobacco use is a major cause of preventable death and disease throughout the world. Raising the price of tobacco products through taxation has been recommended by the World Health Organisation as an effective means of reducing tobacco consumption and thereby improving public health.
