Research statement
Background
This research report presents findings from an evaluation of Lime e-bike trial in Geelong. This report was produced for Deakin University and Victoria Department of Transport and Planning.
Contribution
From Geelong's first ever e-bike trial, this research was undertaken to examine the e-bike usage and travel patterns.
Significance
The Lime electronic bikes were trialled in Geelong, including Deakin University campuses, over a year period in 2022-2023. Utilising the trial data, riding patterns and availability of e-bikes were examined for the Greater Geelong area and four sub-areas: Bellarine in the Southeast, Brownhill in the centre, Kardinia in the Southwest, and Windermere in the North.
Research findings provided new insights in how e-bikes are used for short-distance travel across the study area. These findings contribute to the growing literature on e-bike usage and associated travel patterns.
