EnglishResearch statement
The City of Melton engaged the Live+Smart Research Laboratory from Deakin University to develop a 2D and 3D Digital Twin scenario planning model which would assist in the decision making of community planning outcomes. The Live+Smart Research Laboratory developed and built a custom Digital Twin Model (DTM) of the whole Melton LGA to provide the capabilities for current and future scenario planning. The DTM of Melton was developed based on the existing unique Dynamic Scenario Planning Model (DSPM) of the Live+Smart Research Laboratory. The DSPM, developed by the Live+Smart Research Laboratory, represents a significant improvement over the traditional scenario planning models and tools. The DSPM is a custom build planning tool that provides scenario‐modelling capabilities (i.e., scenario testing) to better understand how the physical, unique landscape characteristics, social, cultural, built form, housing, commercial, various industries, land use and environmental attributes of a specific place or region can change under different impacts from population growth, emerging industry sectors, land‐use changes, development proposal(s) and climate change.Publication classification
