History

Research statement

Background In this progress report, we outline the project progress to date, key findings of surveys and interviews and recommendations for the development of best practice guides and resources. Contribution The list of programs and initiatives of supporting international students in Australia, gathered through consultation workshops, surveys, interviews and desktop analysis, will be continually updated. It will reflect the support needed as they navigate through their journey as an international student studying in Australia and celebrate their significant contribution to the Australian community. This list will lead to the virtual map of support programs available to international students, graduates, education providers and stakeholders as part of the resource pack. Significance We have completed the following project activities: (i) Desktop analysis: April-June 2022. The desktop analysis has extensively reviewed the existing literature on international student engagement, good practice guides for supporting international students, support activities, programs and initiatives for international students. (ii) Three surveys: October 2022-March 2023. The surveys have generated more than 6,000 responses to date, including (i) 3,367 responses for the international student survey, (ii) 1,703 responses for the international graduate survey, and (iii) 950 responses from education providers and stakeholders.
