Research statement

This research project investigates factors that impact upon student enrolments in, engagement with, and perceptions of, Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways in secondary and post-secondary school contexts in the cities of Brimbank and Melton in Melbourne’s western metropolitan region. Specifically, the research has sought to develop an understanding of the public’s perceptions of VET and other post-school choices and opportunities for local young people. These communities exist in growth corridors of Melbourne with significant, and growing, populations of young people. Future Connect, the Brimbank Melton Local Learning and Employment Network (BMLLEN) works closely with young people, their families, schools and other community groups, local businesses and training organisations to improve the experience of navigating education and training pathways.
