Research statement

This report commissioned by the Department of Education and Training, outlines a Tool for Measuring Learner gain in pre-accredited adult learning in the State of Victoria. Formal summative assessment is not typically used in Learn Local providers for pre-accredited courses. However, formative assessment processes such as learner feedback and peer learner feedback are frequently practised in the sector. The Tool for Measuring Learner gain presented here aligns with the Stronger by Design model’s focus on learner centred teaching practice and course design. The focus is on adult learners developing knowledge and skills for study, work and life and includes transition streams and pathways to further study and employment.
