This thesis comprises a novel that reimagines the figure of Clodia Metelli - lover of the ancient Roman poet Catullus from the first century BCE - set in 1980s Australia. The exegesis considers recent debates in the fields to which the novel speaks, namely historical fiction, feminist revisionism, and hauntology.
