A 'most heartbreaking job': caring for the dead of Australia's war against Japan

This thesis examines the work of Australia's war graves units and the politics of commemorating the dead in the Pacific theatre during and after the Second World War, the unique and challenging difficulties experienced by war graves units in this theatre, and the new policies and administration developed to care for and secure Australian war graves into the future.
