Advanced Forming of Ultrafine Grained Nano Composite Sheets

The material behaviour of ultrafine-grained (UFG) Aluminium (Al) and Ultrafine grained Al nano composite sheets, produced by cryo-rolling combined with annealing heat treatment, was investigated for loading conditions relevant to sheet metal forming. The study shows that the combination of nano-particle strengthening with annealing heat treatment enables the production of cryo-rolled UFG material with a good balance of material strength and formability.
