Ampenan : conceptions of nationality, ethnicity, and identity in urban Lombok

This dissertation explores the unique heterogeneity of urban Indonesia. Focusing on the city of Ampenan, former entrepot of West Lombok, it examines the legacy of the local and international influences in its history that has resulted in shaping its multi-ethnic and multi-cultural identity with the context of Indonesian nationalism.
