Anthropocentrism and the Novel

thesis
posted on 2023-03-29, 04:55 authored by Samuel Cadman
This thesis, comprising an exegesis and novel, interrogates how traditional elements of the Western novel sustain an anthropocentric worldview. Focusing on themes of animal suffering, anthropomorphism, and the monomythic template of separation—initiation—return, the thesis proposes storytelling strategies designed to ameliorate rather than accelerate human impacts of the Anthropocene.
