The cycloaddition of cyclobutene epoxides to alkenes underpins the construction of molecular frameworks. This thesis identifies the optimal strategy for synthesising such frameworks that have amino acids and peptides attached at precise locations. Such synthetic peptides are of interest as artificial proteins and novel medicinal agents.
