Arts curriculum reform : social and cultural reproduction in Victorian schools

The thesis is based on Bourdieu's theory of social practice and cultural reproduction. It examines how education perpetuates the existing social order. The study looks specifically at the practices of art appreciation in various schools and how they fit differentially with different social backgrounds, thereby reproducing social class distinctions.
