Beyond Incarceration: Moving Towards Evidence based Sentencing Outcomes

This research examined Australia's incarceration crisis and the over-reliance on imprisonment in criminal justice systems generally. Recommendations are made for evidence-based policies for sentencing practice, including targeted use of electronic monitoring for suitable offenders, to alleviate pressure on the system while sustaining the social fabric on which rehabilitation ultimately depends.
