This study investigated the bioaccumulation of trace metal elements in resident elasmobranchs from two historically contaminated harbours. Empirical evidence identified differences in metals assimilation between muscle, liver and brain, and between Macquarie Harbour and Port Phillip Bay. Maternal transfer of metals from mother to offspring and the consequent assimilation in muscle and liver of offspring was identified.
