Casting yield improvement in graphite iron castings

Focuses on reducing waste in the casting of iron automotive parts in a sand mould. The way molten iron fills the mould and solidifies was modelled to predict whether defective castings would result. A proposed technique to produce sound castings was validated in plant trials.
