This work contributes to understanding of the ecology of chlamydial infection in wild parrots and free-range poultry. It revealed host-specific, temporal and seasonal risk factors for infection. Findings provide a significant insight into which birds may be reservoirs of these bacteria, with implications for zoonotic disease risk and biosecurity.
