Civilizational Perspectives in International Relations and Contemporary China-India Relations

This thesis examines the contemporary bilateral relations between China and India through the conceptual framework of 'civilisation-states'. Adopting poststructuralist and critical constructivist frameworks and discourse analysis, the thesis argues that discursive constructions of the 'civilisation-state' identity have shaped national identity formation and foreign policy of the modern nation-states of China and India.
